True Stars ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at truestarz.net. This Privacy Policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

Data We Collect

• Account information: email address, display name, username, and profile photo.
• Birth details: date, time, and location of birth, used solely for astrology chart calculations.
• Journal entries: daily mood ratings, freeform text, and optional tags you choose to record.
• Period tracking data: menstrual cycle logs, if you opt in to this feature. If you import history from another period-tracking app, we also receive the screenshots you choose to upload.
• Usage data: pages visited and feature interactions, collected through server logs.

How We Use Your Data

• Astrology calculations: birth details power your personalized birth chart and daily readings.
• AI-generated content: journal entries and birth data may be sent to OpenAI to generate personalized insights. Data is not used by OpenAI for model training. Screenshots you import from another period-tracking app are sent to OpenAI so the period dates can be read from them.
• User profiles: your name, username, bio, and profile photo are visible to other users. Birth details are only shown if you enable that setting.
• Communication: your email address is used for account notifications and password resets.

Your Permission for AI Features

We ask for your permission before sending any of your personal data to OpenAI. The request lists what is sent: your birth details and chart; your journal moods and notes; screenshots you import from a period-tracking app; your Fortune chat messages with your name, bio, birth details, and chart (plus your recent journal moods and notes when personalized readings are enabled for your account); and the names and chart placements of friends matched with you. Until you agree, none of it is sent and no AI-written readings are created for you; the rest of the app keeps working.

You can withdraw this permission at any time in Settings (in the app) or on your Edit Profile page (on the web). After you do, nothing more is sent to OpenAI, no new AI readings are created, and pending period-screenshot imports are not processed. Withdrawing does not delete content already created; you can delete your account to remove it.

Third-Party Services

• Google OAuth: optional sign-in via Google. We receive your name, email, and profile photo from Google.
• OpenAI: generates personalized astrology content. We send relevant birth and journal data via their API with zero-retention data policies. With your permission, we also send the other data listed under "Your Permission for AI Features", including imported period-app screenshots.
• Giphy: GIF search in chat and discussions. Giphy may collect usage data per their own privacy policy.
• Amazon Web Services: S3 for file storage and SES for transactional email delivery.

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time through your profile settings. Deleting your account permanently removes all associated data, including birth charts, journal entries, period logs, and AI-generated content. Screenshots you import from another period-tracking app are deleted from our servers as soon as we finish reading them (or the import fails), and in any case within 48 hours of upload.

Data Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), encrypted credentials storage, and scoped access controls to protect your data. While no system is perfectly secure, we take reasonable measures to safeguard your information.

Your Rights

You may access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time through your account settings. For additional requests or questions, contact us at the address below.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or an in-app notice.
